Clube de Montanha do Funchal (CMoF) was founded on the 15th of October of 1992 by a group of 8 people with the main goal of promoting the pratice of mountain activities in an organized and systematic form. 

CMoF was legally constituted in the 24th of March of 1993 in the deed published on JORAM – II Série – Number 64 in the 09th of June 1993.

The number of  CMoF associates has been growing gradually throughout the years but have gained an exponentially growth when the club has opened its orienteering section and started to organize this type of races. At the present time the number of associates is around 110.

MoF is filiated on the Portuguese Orienteering Federation, in the Portuguese Mountaineering and Camping Federation, the Portuguese athletic Federation and in the Portuguese Cycling Federation.

From all the activities CMoF develops, trail-running, a orienteering and skyrunning are the disciplines that have the biggest expression inside the club, and we are convict that by developing these disciplines we help to promote our region, Madeira Island, in regional, national and international levels.
